The San Diego City Council has postponed the decision to pick a new council president until tomorrow’s meeting because two new council members were at the site of a plane crash.
District 1 Councilwoman Sherri Lightner and District 7 Councilwoman Marti Emerald were at the site of the military fighter jet crash in University City.
“They’re both out at the crash site out of their concern for that area, and they kind of share that area,” said Councilman Tony Young, who presided over Monday’s meeting.
Young said the new councilwomen requested a delay of the council president vote.
