Last week I asked for reader reflections on the deaths of two San Diego teenagers in a recent shooting, Monique Palmer and Michael Taylor. We heard from a young man who identified himself as Monique Palmer’s cousin, and recently I got another e-mail, this one from a childhood friend of both victims:

my name is simone robinson and i grew up with monique and michael i knew michael since diapers and i knew monique since knox elementary i cant believe that they are gone i never thought it would happen michael didnt even make it threw his whole first year of high school and my friend monique didnt even make it to our graduation class of 2009 which sucks all i know is that who ever did this they are cowards they took two innocent lives that were going to make it from the ghetto all i can say is why did they take two more of my homies

Readers are invited to send their reflections to emily.alpert@voiceofsandiego.org
