After this story ran last week, I did a quick television segment with our news partners NBC 7/39 and talked with NBC reporter Gene Cubbison about what the Southeastern Economic Development Corp. has been up for the last six months.

Yep, it’s been half a year since SEDC erupted in scandal over a clandestine system of bonuses that was used to pay staff more than $1 million in hidden bonuses over five years.

The agency’s been trying to get back to normal, but remains under federal investigation and former president Carolyn Y. Smith has yet to receive her $100,350 severance check, which has been held up by two lawsuits.
