I was driving past Dusty Rhodes park in Ocean Beach this morning and saw a familiar sight: the irrigation running.

The catch? It was irrigating in the pouring rain.

I unfortunately missed the opportunity to snap a photo because I was already late to where I needed to be this morning.

My colleague Rob Davis has written extensively about the city’s water usage as it deals with looming mandatory cutbacks and the vast amount of water the Parks and Recreation Department uses.

Meanwhile, Mayor Jerry Sanders is holding a series of forums this week to boost awareness of the city’s water crisis and gather input about how water rationing should work for residents. Tonight’s workshop is from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Otay Mesa-Nestor Branch Library.
