I’ll be on NBC’s afternoon broadcast a few minutes after 4 p.m. to talk about President Obama’s housing plan and its potential impacts in San Diego (on which I’d still love to hear your thoughts).

Here are some new numbers from MDA DataQuick, released yesterday:

Last month’s home sales totaled 2,459 in San Diego County — that’s up 34.7 percent from January 2008. Resale condos enjoyed a 75 percent increase in the number of sales recorded, from 443 sold in January 2008 to 773 sold last month. Resale detached houses jumped about 58 percent year-over-year, with 1,567 such sales recorded last month. The one category to plummet was new home sales, which sustained a 69.3 percent drop in number from 388 in January 2008 to 119 last month.

Of the 2,459 total sales last month, 55 percent had been foreclosures at some point in the previous year. That ratio compared to 46 percent foreclosure sales in Orange County, 52 percent in L.A. County and 71 percent in Riverside County.
