San Diego City Council President Ben Hueso has filed papers saying he intends to run for state Assembly in 2010.

Hueso has filed a “statement of intention” with the state to run for the 79th Assembly District seat now held by Mary Salas, as CityBeat reported earlier today. Salas has also filed paperwork to run for her current seat and for state Senate. (Candidates can file a “statement of intention” for more than one seat.)

Hueso’s former council colleague, Toni Atkins, has filed to run for the Assembly seat now held by Lori Saldaña, as has state Sen. Christine Kehoe. (Atkins worked for Kehoe when Kehoe was a councilwoman.)

Here’s the full list of those who have filed to run in 2010. Also, take a peek at this December interview with Hueso, in which I asked about his political ambitions.
