Yesterday, I solicited your tips for who might run to fill San Diego City Council President Ben Hueso’s seat in District 8 since Hueso has filed paperwork to run for state Assembly. Many responded, so I’d like to pass along these names, with the caveat that they are rumors:

  • Alonso Gonzalez, Hueso’s deputy chief of staff
  • B.D. Howard, a former Hueso staffer who ran Stephen Whitburn’s campaign in District 3 last year.
  • Former City Attorney Mike Aguirre
  • David Alvarez, a staffer for state Sen. Denise Ducheny
  • Former District 8 candidate Remy Bermudez, who lost to Hueso in 2005 and 2006
  • Former City Councilman Uvaldo Martinez

Have thoughts on these names or more tips? Pass them along to rani.gupta@voiceofsandiego.org.
