I just heard from union president Camille Zombro that Don Morrison, the former president of both the National Education Association and of the then-San Diego Teachers Association, has passed away.

Those are big titles in the union world: The National Education Association is the countrywide affiliate of the local union that represents teachers in San Diego Unified. Zombro said that Morrison helped build local union offices by creating a fund for local staff. She also said that Morrison returned to teaching later in his career, working at Memorial Middle School in San Diego.
