As reporters Kelly Bennett and Will Carless were putting together Part I and Part II of their special investigation, “A Staggering Swindle,” we worked closely with our media partners, Cox Channel 4 and NBC 7/39, to put together a television version of the story.
That will be airing this afternoon at 4:30 p.m. on NBC 7/39, followed by a Q&A with Bennett and Carless. Cox Channel 4 will air the story after tonight’s Padres game.
We’ll also be posting the video on our front page as soon as we get it. In addition, Bennett and Carless will be the special guests on our voiceofsandiego.org radio show, which airs at noon on Sunday on KOGO AM 600 and posts on our site on Mondays. We’ll spend the hour going behind-the-scenes with the two reporters. They’ve got some fantastic tales. I’ve never in my career had the pleasure to watch a more impressive job of reporting on a story.
This is the model we hope to use for all of our major stories from here on out, offering versions in the written word, via television and on the radio all at the same time. Let us know what you think.
