The Union-Tribune’s story this weekend on the schoobrary had an interesting bit of news about the private donors to the building.

As a condition for extending a $20 million grant, the state librarian has requested the city submit documents such as donor agreement letters to verify that donors have committed $33 million to the project.

But the foundation is waiting to turn over the information, according to the story:

Judith Harris, the foundation’s chairwoman, said yesterday she won’t give that information until the City Council takes a final vote on the library proposal. The council has not set a date for such action.

Only two donors have publicly announced pledges totaling $3 million.
