Equipment from the offices of three recently departed City Council members was missing or unaccounted for, according to an audit released today.

City Auditor Eduardo Luna’s office reviewed the information technology inventory to account for the equipment issued to the four council members who recently left office — Scott Peters, Toni Atkins, Brian Maienschein and Jim Madaffer.

The report found that equipment from Peters’, Atkins’ and Madaffer’s offices “could not be accounted for, or documentation was missing to verify equipment that had been sent to the City’s surplus storage facility.” The equipment included six personal digital assistants, three laptops and two digital cameras.

Based on Luna’s recommendation, city officials agreed to create a written policy to review all IT equipment annually.
