The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will use $6 million from the federal stimulus package to build a new headquarters for the San Diego National Wildlife Refuge Complex.

The complex includes refuges on San Diego Bay and near Rancho San Diego.

The $6 million project will include a visitor station, offices and parking and create offices for some refuge staff who currently work in trailers. It’ll be built adjacent to the Chula Vista Nature Center.

It’s scheduled to begin construction in June 2010 and finish within a year.
