Monday, June 8, 2009 | The retirement system has been conducting votes for benefits for a long time. The current process involves an electronic phone process with a PIN number. I cannot remember a time when the results were not determined by a majority of those casting a vote. I would challenge the city attorney to find any benefit vote that had a majority of participants that actually voted. Don’t forget that in 2002 when the members voted, then city attorney Casey Gwinn issued an opinion (that was followed by CERS) that participants included retirees.
