Councilwoman Donna Frye has endorsed her chief of staff, Steven Hadley, to replace her when her term expires next year.
Frye said Hadley, a former pastor, is “one of the most honest, decent, hardworking public servants I’ve ever had the pleasure to work with. He loves what he does and he does it very well.”
The open seat in District 6 has attracted at least one-high profile candidate: former Assemblyman Howard Wayne. Others who could run include Lorie Zapf, president of the group Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse, and Jonathan Goetz.
We’re now less than a year from the June 2010 primary, which means candidates can start raising money and campaigning heats up. Feel free to send me your tips at rani.gupta@voiceofsandiego.org.
As for Frye, she said she hasn’t made a final decision on whether she’ll run for county supervisor next year.
“I’m really weighing how it’s all going to play out and where I believe I’d be the happiest and where I could do my work the best,” she said.
