It’s almost official: San Diego Unified is poised to adopt a project labor agreement for its facilities bond on Tuesday. The agreement includes guidelines for local hiring and requires contractors to provide health insurance, largely through union plans.

If you’re wondering, “Didn’t they already adopt a project labor agreement?” I don’t blame you — the school board gave their approval to the idea of a project labor agreement in January and voted to move forward with the pact in May.

But the details of the plan were still being negotiated with the unions over the past several months, during which work continued on the bond outside of its rules. I haven’t combed through the final agreement yet to see whether it differs significantly from the draft. I’ll post an update if I find anything interesting.
