Just got a fact sheet from San Diego’s Water Department with an update on what its water cops have been up to.

They got 691 water waste complaints in June. And through July 13, they’d opened 330 investigations.

The city hired five water cops to enforce its new lawn-watering restrictions that went into effect June 1. The city turned to the restrictions as a way to meet the 8 percent cutback it got from the San Diego County Water Authority.

Reminder: Odd-numbered houses are supposed to water their lawns on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Even-numbered houses can irrigate Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Businesses, condos, apartments and homeowners associations can water on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

If you have complaint, e-mail the city at waterwaste@sandiego.gov or dial up the water waste hotline at 619.515.3500.
