Where to start?

In terms of timeliness and potential impact to San Diego, a good place to begin seems to be the potential $750 million expansion of the city’s convention center. The Mayor’s Citizen Task Force On The San Diego Convention Center Project expects to have its final meeting Aug. 31 after eight months of examining the project’s viability. The task force plans to produce a recommendation. A draft report favoring an expansion should be completed soon, and ready for a vote by task force members. Major questions remain, the largest of which is, how will the city fund the project? The topic is generating lots of discussion.

In that vein, this weekend’s VOSD Q&A is planned to be with Carol Wallace. Wallace is president and CEO of the Convention Center Corp., which manages the convention center for the city. She will be a great person to discuss history as well as pros and cons for expanding the center.

I am scheduled to meet with Wallace on Wednesday. Let me know if there are particular questions you’d like me to ask or topics I should cover: liam.dillon@voiceofsandiego.org or twitter.com/dillonliam.
