I’ve been searching for interesting stories about how kids and educators are spending the summer. I’ve visited two summer schools and seen kids in the South Bay heading back to class already, but I’m still looking for more — something different, something new, something that no one is reporting on.

Got stories about how you’re keeping up kids’ skills over the summer months? Is there an unusual summer program that has survived the budget ax? Or are you a teacher who has used the time off to create something new and interesting for the fall?

Please send me your ideas and stories at emily.alpert@voiceofsandiego.org. I’ll be posting the cream of the crop to the blog — and maybe even turning some that pique my interest into stories.
