I just got a written statement from Dianne Jacob, chairwoman of the San Diego County Board of Supervisors, the governmental body that confirmed authority chairman Bob Watkins’ appointment in 2006. I had asked Jacob for her reaction to our story about the authority’s travel expenses and violations of its written reimbursement policies.
Jacob said:
The Voice story raises concern. Rules should be followed to ensure the public’s trust. Excessive and unnecessary spending by Airport Authority members puts in question the rules and the public’s trust.
