A brief update to my Friday post on the city managed competition director Anna Danegger’s pending departure:
I called Councilman Carl DeMaio, a strong supporter of the city’s stalled outsourcing program. He said Danegger stopped by his office to let him know she was leaving.
“It’s unfortunate,” DeMaio said. “She’s worked very hard on behalf of taxpayers and she’s encountered nothing but resistance from the city council.”
DeMaio added that Danegger was talented and always frustrated by the program’s lack of progress.
I also called back to mayoral spokeswoman Rachel Laing to get some more clarification on who would be taking on Danegger’s duties. Danegger also was responsible for the city’s Business Process Reengineering program, which is intended to increase the efficiency of city services. Assistant Chief Operations Officer Wally Hill will now be in charge of that project.
