The new issue of Biocom’s Deals and Data is out, and it provides updates on several things we’ve been following this year.

It links to a San Diego Business Journal story that relates the good news that workers at Genentech’s Oceanside plant heard this month. The nearly 500 workers will not only keep their jobs, but welcome new colleagues.

The fate of the employees had been up in the air ever since word first surfaced of Genentech’s merger with Swiss pharma giant Roche. The merger was completed in March. We have been on the story since last summer.

Biocom’s post also links to an Xconomy item on the latest news on local diagnostic company Sequenom’s mishandling of data. I covered this story in May.

And you can find a link to my recent story on angel investors, the latest piece in our running account of the broken venture capital model.
