More details from the Houston Chronicle: The newspaper has seen a document that confirms that the Houston Independent School District has been negotiating with San Diego Unified Superintendent Terry Grier over his base pay and car allowance. The document was dated from this weekend.

This is from the updated version of its earlier story on Grier:

But the legally mandated waiting period isn’t stopping trustees from going ahead and negotiating an employment contract with Grier. A preliminary draft of a compensation agreement obtained by the Chronicle indicates that Grier and trustees are discussing a deal with annual base pay in excess of $300,000. Add in other perks — including a potential $46,000 annual retirement payment and a performance bonus that could top out at $80,000 — and the deal’s total value could exceed $400,000 annually.
