Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009 | When the U-T let go of Bob Kittle, I felt that it was overdue. The climate in San Diego has changed from a staunch conservative to a more centrist or even more liberal mindset. I canceled my U-T subscription when the editorial page endorsed McCain/Palin as having Sarah Palin as vice president was beyond the pale.

However, I am really sad that an investigative reporter with the credentials of Mr. Hasemyer was let go. It will not lead me to reinstate my subscription to the U-T. I know that voiceofsandiego.org is continuing on this tradition of investigative reporting — is there a place for reporters who are being laid off in this model?

I had the opportunity to be quoted in an article about the blue whales who are feeding off San Diego and appreciated the opportunity to interact with Mr. Hasemyer.
