I blogged about a plastic surgeon getting stimulus money. I blogged about beauty schools getting stimulus money.

So it is only fair that I blog about a $112 million in stimulus money being spent to construct a buildings that will house state-of-the-art marine life tanks and laboratories on the Scripps Institution of Oceanography campus in La Jolla.

Tomorrow, U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke, who, coincidentally, I quoted in my story today on the long wait for patents, will be on hand for a groundbreaking ceremony at Scripps. Most of the money, $100 million, will go toward a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration facility that will house the marine tanks. Another $12 million will go toward a laboratory for research on marines ecosystem forecasting.

The ceremony will commence at 10:30 a.m.
