A couple of things discussed at the city this week you might be interested in:
- The City Council yesterday approved the Housing Commission’s plan for buying foreclosures straight from the bank and reselling them to first-time homebuyers. Read more on that plan here. The vote was 7-0 with Councilwoman Donna Frye absent, said Maria Velasquez, Housing Commission spokeswoman.
- The council also pushed back the decision on where to site the winter homeless shelter. Read my colleague Adrian Florido‘s catch-up on that issue. And the city is supposed to be getting close to picking a plan for a new one-stop center where homeless and extremely low-income residents could be linked to housing and services. I wrote a bit about that plan in my last story about some regional homelessness efforts.
