Notes: Wednesday’s special meeting will be on next year’s city budget. It will begin at 9 a.m.

Issues of Interest: Wednesday morning will be City Council’s first chance to address San Diego’s $179 million budget deficit. Councilman Tony Young, chairman of the city’s Budget and Finance Committee, will be asking council to open next year’s budget now.

Read Young’s press release about Wednesday’s meeting. Note that the abundance of exclamation points denotes the severity of the situation.

For background, here’s the city’s five-year financial forecast and a report by the Independent Budget Analyst on the deficit.

What else is good to follow at the meetings? Questions? Comments? Derogatory remarks? Email me or tweet me.
