When Adrian Florido wrote this story in August about the Lincoln Acres community in National City, I had the chance to meet resident James Small, who told me that tow trucks and ice cream trucks drive up and down his street all day. “You can’t even breathe when they go past,” he said at the time.

He mentioned that he often leaned on the hood of his truck and watched the vehicles go by. This is the truck he was talking about. And the watchdog on the hood has undoubtedly seen some tow trucks go past in its time, as well.
