Following other council members and the Mayor’s Office, Councilman Tony Young, as chairman of the City Council’s Budget and Finance Committee, will hold a series of public meetings called “San Diego Speaks” for citizen input on next year’s $179 million budget deficit. Young also held the series last year.

In other budget news, Council President Ben Hueso has asked to hold a second meeting in December so that the city can make budget decisions before the end of the year.

Mayor Jerry Sanders spoke at this morning’s Budget and Finance Committee hearing and said if the city can make decisions before the end of the calendar year it could save $59 million in cuts it wouldn’t have to make.
