A new parent group called Voice for Our Kids is holding a press conference tomorrow morning at the San Diego Unified headquarters to talk about budget cuts. The group wants greater oversight of which cuts are being made, and “no more deals to special interests,” but the group has yet to offer specifics on what it thinks should be cut and what should be saved.
It is organized by Debbie O’Toole, a parent with kids at Marshall Middle and Miramar Ranch Elementary who created the website VoiceforOurKids.org as a clearing house for information for parents. It is another sign of the revival of interest in the schools after the departure of Superintendent Terry Grier.
Correction: The original version of this post incorrectly identified the school that Debbie O’Toole’s children attend.
