I’ve been out on vacation, but Rob Davis has been doing a terrific job manning this blog and freelancer Will Parson has been keeping our stories nicely illustrated.

For once in my life, I deliberately did not take my cameras with me on vacation. They are usually glued to my hands, so it was good to set them down for a while. Plus I was up at Big Bear and my snowboarding skills are not quite to the level where I want camera gear sliding down the mountain with me.

But just before I left town, I saw this stunning sunset in my rearview mirror as I headed north on 1-15. The sky has been amazing recently and this sunset was no exception. I had to pull over and make this image — and then it was time to relax.
