A parent, teacher and student group at the Language Academy just snapped up a national award from the National Parent Teacher Association for advocacy. Families and staffers from the San Diego magnet school were among the loudest voices protesting the idea of cutting magnet busing last year, a proposal that was ultimately scrapped. The group will be recognized in Washington, D.C. in March.
