  • We’ll lead off with the circus that was the San Diego Ethics Commission hearing for City Councilwoman Marti Emerald. Six hours of testimony did not yield a result on a potential $10,000 fine Emerald faces for two alleged violations from her 2008 campaign.
  • U-T reporter Craig Gustafson had a highly entertaining live tweet session from the hearing, which will resume later this month.
  • We Fact Check and find that City Councilman Carl DeMaio made the same error Mayor Jerry Sanders did on outsourcing cost savings. Council doesn’t vote on the outsourcing contract, for part of the city’s information technology services, until Monday.
  • The decision to throw out more criminal charges from San Diego’s pension scandal does nothing to blunt the effects of pension underfunding on current budget woes, the U-T editorializes.
