Presidential visits have a way of sticking in the memory. Just ask voiceofsandiego.org readers.

You’ve checked in with recollections of the chief executives who’ve dropped by: Nixon in 1968 (his driver sent me an email), Eisenhower in 1960 (my dad watched his helicopter land in Chula Vista), and Truman in 1948 (he breezed through on a campaign swing).

And I’ve received even more anecdotes — including a doozy — about President Kennedy’s 1963 visit. (My story last week about his trip inspired curiosity about other presidents who’ve been here.)

I’m compiling all these tales for a future post, but plenty of presidents are unrepresented. At least 14 have been here while in office, including every one from Franklin D. Roosevelt to George W. Bush.

I’d like to get a few more stories. Send me an email if you remember a presidential visit to San Diego and look for another post later this week.
