Photojournalism has taken me to some strange places. Last Thursday’s shoot in the bathroom at Torrey Pines State Reserve was one of the strangest.

On a reader’s suggestion, I met Michael Sykes at the bathroom. He’s the president of the International Center for Bathroom Etiquette and was profiled for our weekend Q&A.

We figured the bathroom would be pretty empty, but endured the strange glares from two different people who came in to use it for what a bathroom is supposed to be used for (not photo shoots). Photojournalism sure can be a dirty business.
