While roaming the streets of southeastern San Diego the other day for this story about the area’s struggling business climate, I was drawn to taking a few pictures, not for the story, but just for their unique graphic elements.

I’m often drawn to pictures that have symbols in them, be it a flag or a cross. They’re often colorful, or in this case, bring interesting lines and shapes to the frame.
