A warning to truth spinners, outright liars and anyone else who attempts to mislead San Diegans: We’re launching a campaign to find you and hold you publicly accountable. Tread carefully.

Our campaign is simple. We’re inviting readers to print and post this flier in their shops, schools, libraries and gyms. Take it to neighborhood groups, debates and other public meetings, too. The more people involved in monitoring deceit, the fewer havens it will have to flourish.

The flier explains our fact checking mission and how tipsters can contact me to investigate a bold, questionable claim. Just write down the claim and email or call me. To help me verify the claim, use a cell phone or some other device to record it.

Readers can download the flier by clicking here or clicking the image to the right. You can also find past examples of accountability in action by visiting the San Diego Fact Check Blog. It’s one of our most popular features, reaching thousands of people each week through our website and our media partners at NBC7 San Diego and KOGO AM 600.

So if you end up in our Fact Check Blog with a stretched wooden nose, don’t say we didn’t warn you.
