It is nice to see Voice of San Diego getting its back up about First Amendment rights. I have no doubt that the real conspiracy involves the Mayor’s office and the district attorney. Impelled by decisions made at a higher level of the federal government, there has been a unified decision to crack down on Occupy Wall Street wherever it is manifested. This is only a hint of repression to come. The Mayor’s Office’s hand is all over this. Although there has been much proper condemnation of police brutality, the police take orders from the mayor.

My main experience with the San Diego police has been at marches and demonstrations, a number for LGBT equality. In general at these events the police have behaved very well and this I attribute in part to the mayor’s intervention as well.

Given that, the police actions against the Occupy Wall Street demonstrators have been amazingly and gratuitously harsh. Currently indisposed, I hope to be back with Occupy Wall Street soon, “conspiring” to take our American freedoms back.
