What Happened |
The City Council voted 6-2 to approve a hotel-room tax increase that’s projected to pay for three-quarters of the $520 million Convention Center expansion. City hoteliers are expected to vote on the tax hike in April and a final financing plan is planned to go before council in May. |
Why It Matters |
The expansion passed yet another hurdle. Many others, including issues beyond financing, remain before the city can stick a shovel in the ground. |
What About the City’s Budget |
