From the Reporter
The Mayoral Candidates on Taxes:
City Councilman Carl DeMaio: Has opposed every city revenue increase from a sales tax hike at the ballot box to a nickel more for library fines. Supports the Convention Center tax increase.
District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis: Supported state tax extensions three years ago and won’t say how she voted on the recent city sales tax measure. Supports the Convention Center tax increase, but opposes anything else.
Congressman Bob Filner: The only candidate to leave the door open to a general tax increase at some point during his term. Opposes the Convention Center tax.
Assemblyman Nathan Fletcher: Opposes general tax increases, but did support Gov. Jerry Brown’s proposal to eliminate a tax break in exchange for other tax reductions. Supports the Convention Center tax.
