What’s Happening
The ARTS training program for kids was one of the founding tenants in the former Naval Training Center’s arts and culture district. Now it’s headed for a larger space and cheaper rent in National City.
Why It’s Happening
NTC’s arts area has been more expensive than ARTS’ leader expected. The organization will get almost three times as much room for classrooms and studios, and for just two-thirds the price.
What’s Next
NTC is finding itself competing with places like North Park, Barrio Logan and National City, which is using its old library to build an arts hub.
