What’s New |
San Diego police conducted a curfew sweep in Mira Mesa last weekend and arrested eight teenagers near a movie theater. They were waiting for a ride home. |
Why That’s Newsworthy |
At a City Council meeting about curfew sweeps last year, San Diego police said they wouldn’t arrest kids waiting outside movie theaters. Police said their sweeps only target bad kids or those in danger of becoming victims of crime. |
Why the Teens Were Arrested |
They crossed a street to get ice cream. By leaving the theater, police said the teens had left an area with adult supervision and were no longer safe. Police said they needed to intervene. |
How Do I Get Involved? |
