Volcán de Mi Tierra Hosts Sweepstakes to Spotlight Businesses “With Heart”

Bottle of Volcán Tequila

This year, National Tequila Day just hits different.

It still takes place on July 24. The holiday remains a way to pay homage to Mexico’s national spirit and all the delicious drinks that can be made with it. But mostly, after a long dark year of social distancing and lockdowns, National Tequila Day arrives as people are finding new reasons to celebrate and to reconnect.

Because of all the top spirits, what is more associated with summer parties and good times than tequila?

“National Tequila Day is definitely going to be different this year,” Volcán de Mi Tierra ambassador Juan Carlos Ruiz says.

The popularity of drinks culture means that even as consumers are rushing back to support their favorite bar, they’ve learned the thrill of making their own drinks at home as well. With access to great spirits at home as well as at neighborhood spots, it’s the best of both worlds.

“After a year in lockdown, customers have really become comfortable making craft cocktails at home,” Ruiz says. “They are much more confident in their ability to make amazing drinks at home with great garnishes, glassware and top spirits.”

This National Tequila Day, Volcán de Mi Tierra, a humble tequila made in the heart of Jalisco, Mexico, invites consumers to serve drinks from the heart, and lift a toast to the start of brighter days. With a nod to the small businesses that have kept San Diego thriving over the past year, Volcán is using National Tequila Day as a way to put other entrepreneurs forward by hosting an online social media sweepstakes.

At stake: The trip of a lifetime to visit Volcán de Mi Tierra’s distillery in Jalisco, Mexico.

As a brand built from the ground up with passion and dedication, Volcán is asking consumers to shout out their favorite small businesses. From July 24 through July 31, consumers can tag their favorite local businesses that have operated with “100% heart” over the past year. To enter, on social (Instagram or Facebook) entrants must tag @VolcanTequila, share the name of their favorite local small business (and why!) along with the friend they’d take to Jalisco and the official #VisitVolcanSweepstakes hashtag. Each post counts as one entry and consumers can enter once per day July 24 through July 31.

Five randomly selected winners (plus one guest each) will be treated to a complimentary trip to Volcán’s distillery in Jalisco, Mexico for a one-of-a-kind look at the brand and its authentic Mexican heritage.

“Everything we do at Volcán comes from the heart,” Ruiz says. “We make the best tequila because we only use the heart of the agave plant, which gives us that distinctive sweetness.”

You can find Volcán de Mi Tierra’s signature drinks at beloved San Diego establishments like Mission Bay Resort, Sunshine Tavern, Courtyard and Pacific Coast Grill.

Want to bring Volcán magic home? The brand has partnered with drinks delivery services ReserveBar to create a limited-edition cocktail kit.

The sweepstakes is subject to terms and conditions available here.
