Later today, I’ll be sitting down with Bonnie Howell for this week’s Q&A. Howell is the local chapter president of the National Organization of Parents of Murdered Children, a support group for friends and family of crime victims.
Howell formed the local chapter in 2006, two years after Santee gang members stabbed her 17-year-old son to death at a party. The Union-Tribune covered the criminal trials and Howell’s inspiration to form a support group several months later.
“I want people to feel it’s OK for them to say whatever they want to say,” she told the newspaper at the time.
In our conversation, I’ll be asking Howell about her experiences since forming the group and her advice for anyone close to a victim of crime. But what else do you think I should ask her? Please e-mail me your questions.
