The Republican Party of San Diego has had it with Carl DeMaio.
DeMaio, a Republican, is running for the 75th Assembly District. He failed to get the party’s endorsement, but in exchange, he made a deal with them a few months ago.
He agreed not to endorse candidates that weren’t endorsed by the party. In exchange, the party would withhold the usual perks of an endorsement, money and voter outreach, from his opponent, Andrew Hayes.
Last week, DeMaio broke his end of the deal. He publicly endorsed a candidate not backed by the Republican Party of San Diego, as our Scott Lewis reported. Now, there’s an all out war against DeMaio and resources are flowing into Hayes’ campaign.
On the latest VOSD Podcast episode, hosts Lewis, Andrea Lopez-Villafaña and Bella Ross get into the beef. They also have updates on the San Diego Unified leadership shakeup and the stink in the South Bay.
Later on the show, Jim Hinch, our new South County reporter, joins to talk about his latest stories.
