Friday, Dec. 19, 2008 | San Diego Association of Government’s proposed request for $7.4 billion in federal aid to improve and develop infrastructure would be a lot more impressive if SANDAG had developed a prioritized list of all the projects for the region. Then we could see what local officials really think is most needed, and given any financial number you could draw a line and see what should be done first for the money.
SANDAG can be correctly criticized as on old boys, “you-scratch-my-back-and-I’ll-scratch-yours” horse-trading club, and an integrated priority list of projects would demonstrate that these people can think regionally. There is serious doubt of that now.
