Voice of San Diego has produced Politifest every year since 2011. For the first time, we’ve joined forces with CalMatters to bring together prominent political leaders, policy experts and thought leaders to explore this year’s themes: housing and water.

What’s the registration deadline?

You can register any time. In-person registration opens at USD at 9 a.m.

Where is the app (and schedule)?

Download the event app, “Cvent Events” in your app store. (Apple / Google Play)

Log in using the same email address used to register.

Search “Politifest 2023” in the directory.

Where is the livestream?

Registered attendees can see the livestream sessions on the homepage of the mobile app (Cvent Events) and on the Cvent Attendee Hub.

Parking and transportation

Politifest Imperial Beach: There is free parking at the venue and along the street.

Politifest USD: There is free parking throughout campus. There is a garage in the lower level of the Kroc School and in the lower levels of Mother Rosalie Hall, which is across the way from Kroc. There is also street parking on campus.

There is also parking in the west lot near the guard entrance off Marian Way. There will be a shuttle available 9-11:30 a.m. and 4-6 p.m.

What to wear

We recommend business casual, but wear what is most comfortable for you. The event will be primarily inside and it can get cool in the meeting rooms, so plan accordingly.

WIFI: How to connect to USD Guest WiFi 

– On your device go into your Wireless settings and connect to the network called “usdguest”

– Open up a web browser and go to any website. This will activate the Guest WiFi login process 

– Read the Terms of Use agreement on the screen 

– If you agree, check the box that says “I accept the terms of use” 

– Click Log In 

– You will be redirected to a page that says “Authentication Successful”

Where can I find information about the event and the schedule on the day of the event? / Is there an event app?

We will be using a mobile app to provide program information on the day of the event.  

Search “Cvent Events” in your app store (Apple / Google Play). Then “Politifest 2023” in the directory. 

You’ll have to log in using your registration confirmation code. Then you can find the schedule, information about each session, speaker profiles, and sponsor information.

How to ask a question during a session  

If you would like to ask questions during a panel, we encourage you to use the event app.

Search “Cvent Events” in your app store. Then “Politifest 2023” in the directory. Each individual panel will have its own Q&A forum within the app.

You can also ask questions by writing them down on a question slip and handing them to a volunteer.

Lunch

If you pre-ordered your lunch, you will receive a wristband at check-in. You lunch will be available for pick-up in the front courtyard to the south of the registration tents. Just show your wristband.

If you did not order lunch in advance, you can grab a bite from Dirty Birds Food Truck, which will be on location during the lunch break.

There are two locations on the east side of campus, a 5-10 minute walk from the event location: 

Tu Mercado: Campus Market that has retail items, espresso drinks, breakfast, sandwiches.

Pavilion Brunch: Open from 10-2pm. This is the location for meal plan brunch but guests can come pay a price for unlimited access.

Closing Reception

We hope you’ll join us for the closing reception, starting at 5 p.m. on Saturday, in the garden on the west side of the Kroc School, overlooking the ocean. There will be light appetizers, beer, wine and soft drinks.
