Lani Lutar, president and CEO of the San Diego County Taxpayers Association, contacted us today, worried that her organization’s opposition to the new main library project wasn’t completely reflected in our article today.

She said in her e-mail that:

… at the very least, city elected officials should set a fundraising deadline for the Library Foundation, so that if the target is not met by the “drop dead” date, this pipedream project can come to an official end. Allowing an unrealistic project to drag on while paying consultants to do more planning is wasteful of taxpayer dollars.
