Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-El Cajon, announced today that at 1 p.m. on Aug. 14, President Bush will sign the Mount Soledad Veterans Memorial Protection Act at the White House.

The legislation is designed to save the Mount Soledad Cross by transferring it to federal government.

The announcement comes as little surprise, as the White House issued a statement indicating Bush’s support for the legislation shortly after the House of Representatives passed it on July 19.
