Friday, Aug. 18, 2006 | Re: “Airport Authority PR Push Continues Without Review.”
Expectable behavior: Another government funded body running loose. My goodness, what to do?
Well, we wish we could fire them.
Hasn’t the question of conducting a political campaign with tax money, such as our airport authority would love to do, been recently brought to question? Hollywood Rob Reiner’s attempt went down among flames and accusations of illegal use of public funds just a few weeks ago.
Now, someone in the thick of it suggests: “…a meeting could help delineate blurred lines between education and advocacy.” (Rob Reiner, at least, had a direct tie to “education.”)
Better stated: A meeting to determine if the authority has already broken the law or whether they didn’t know, or can’t recall, what they were doing when they did. Or, maybe what their staff or the consultants they hired did?
What about the money the authority has already spent on promotional efforts? Did the blind mouse sign that check?
I guess this continuing saga is good for those in the business of selling “news” and other old curiosities. What the heck, the ideas seemingly favored by the authority will only amount to $10-20 billion in taxes if they come to pass.
