Friday, Aug. 18, 2006 | I must laugh at the people who write denigrating comments about City Attorney Mike Aguirre, such as Richard Dell’Orfano’s letter to the editor. The last paragraph of his diatribe referred to Mike as “Raving Mike.”
Grow up sir. Stop believing everything put out by the Union-Tribune, certain City Council members and the idiots downtown, who in the past have endeavored to blacken Mike’s reputation and character in order to steal his authority and power; hoping that his investigations will not end up with them in a cage. Singing like a canary.
I knew prior to his election that Mike was going to change the culture of the CA’s office. And rightly so. The sour grapes, exhibited by certain of his former employees, was anticipated.
To hire or fire was his prerogative.
Would anyone want to work for a boss with the temperament of Arthur Levitt? He made a horse’s patootie of himself trying to castigate Mike. He was screaming, ranting and completely out of control. He never did respond to the question of how OUR $20 million was spent, did he? A lot of bluster to cover up the fact that he could not account for the money.
Just to set the record straight. I have been a friend of Mike’s since 1998. I encouraged him to run for his current position. I have never observed him to ever lose his cool and act as an imbecile.
Mike Aguirre has a brain second to none in this county. He is sharp, caring and fair. He is courageous, not afraid to stand up for what he knows to be legal and to enforce his power.
He is fighting the good fight for us, his constituents. He absorbs abuse to protect our legal rights, our taxes and our city.
If you would prefer to have the past two administrations again running this city, you, sir, are on another planet.
